Charcoal
Charcoal is a rich, deep gray hand-dyed yarn with a naturally heathered finish, created by the unique way our 70% organic merino wool and 30% hemp blend absorbs color. The merino provides soft, even saturation, while the hemp contributes lighter, weathered flecks that give this dark gray yarn beautiful depth, texture, and dimension.
The result is a sophisticated charcoal colorway that feels both sleek and organic — an elevated neutral perfect for knitters and crocheters who want a gray yarn with character. This merino wool and hemp yarn combines the gentle warmth and bounce of merino with the strength, drape, and subtle rustic texture of hemp, making it ideal for long-lasting handmade garments and accessories.

Pro Tip: If your project uses more than one skein in the same colorway, we recommend alternating skeins every row. Hand-dyed yarns naturally have slight shifts in tone and saturation, and switching skeins as you go helps those subtle variations blend beautifully for a more consistent, cohesive fabric.
You can even use this technique with a single-skein project: wind the skein into two balls and alternate between them each row. If you’re working from a center-pull cake, just use both the inside and outside strand to alternate rows.
Perfect For: Lightweight sweaters, scarves, hats, mittens, shawls, and year-round home décor projects. Whether you’re knitting or crocheting, Charcoal adds a refined, effortless elegance to every stitch.
Care Instructions for Merino Wool & Hemp Yarn
Wash only when necessary — fine wool rarely needs frequent cleaning. When your piece does need care, hand-soak in cool water with a mild wool wash. Avoid detergent, wringing, agitation, or machine washing (even on delicate cycles). Press gently in a towel to remove excess water and lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
A small amount of color release is normal with hand-dyed yarns, especially with deeply saturated colorways like Charcoal. This will lessen over time and does not affect the quality of your finished piece.
Cherish your handmade project — with gentle care, it will last a lifetime.
